Drifting? Idling? Doubting? Going sideways? Falling back?

Sift and then SHIFT!

1. Sift— examine your situation thoroughly and isolate that which is most important or useful. You might need to journal, pray, or talk to a friend to sift through the stuff in your life right now.

2. SHIFT — move your thinking slightly from the voluminous ambiguity and unmanageable complexity onto that one thing that moves you back in a good direction, and keep it there for a few seconds.

Practically, you can do this by writing the word S H I F T on your desk, on a post-it or white board where you’ll see it.

When you find yourself drifting, idling, doubting, going sideways, falling back, use that word as a trigger for these two steps: sift and shift.

Create a “SHIFT List” of inspirational truths and refer to it during those 10 seconds after you decide to shift.

You’ll be creating new patterns and pathways in your brain that will strengthen your resolve and shifting you towards the good and the true and the right and the virtuous and the adventurous and the valuable.

Do it!
